About BOSSE

The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE), Sikkim, was established under an Act of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly (Act No. 14 of 2020) and duly recognized by the Government of Sikkim. BOSSE is a state-level open schooling board that provides flexible, inclusive, and skill-integrated education to learners across India.

BOSSE is designed as an alternative education system to support school dropouts, working professionals, underprivileged learners, and anyone seeking a second chance to complete their schooling. It offers Secondary (Class 10), Senior Secondary (Class 12), and Skill & Vocational Education programs, empowering learners with both academic qualifications and employable skills.

Recognitions and Affiliations

Established under Act No. 14 of 2020 by the Government of Sikkim.
Official member of COBSE (Council of Boards of School Education in India).
Certificates recognized for higher education, government jobs, and competitive exams across India.
Equivalent to other national open schooling boards like NIOS.

Secondary Level (Class 10)

BOSSE’s Secondary Programme is equivalent to Class 10 (X). It’s designed for flexible, open schooling so learners can complete Class 10 with subject choice and supportive evaluation.

Eligibility

Minimum age: 15 years (age must be attained before the exam / Block cut-off).
Applicants must provide valid proof of age; applicants should be able to read the study material and write the examination.

Senior Secondary (Class 12)

The Senior Secondary Programme from BOSSE is equivalent to the Class 12 (XII) standard. Candidates who have passed the Secondary (Class X) level are eligible to apply, and must submit a self-attested copy of their Secondary Certificate. There’s no restriction on the choice of subjects—except that students must select at least one language. Subjects are chosen from the official BOSSE Senior Secondary list.

Group A (Languages): Hindi, English, Urdu, Sanskrit, Bengali, Odia, Punjabi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu (choose at least one)
Group B (Core Subjects):
